I had just finished listening to the final episode of a horror podcast called The Magnus Archives and I could not get the images out of my head. I could not shake these characters and their fate.
First I wrote a song about them, and even after recording it, I didn’t feel finished with the story. I started sketching the images I couldn’t get rid of, and soon, I had the kindling to make something bigger.

I knew I wanted this to feel hand-made and analog. Simple, black-and-white, text paired with image. I used cel animation in Procreate in tandem with vector animation in After Effects, and that final, flashing, spiraling eye is a product of experimenting with both programs.
The final product is a music and lyric video that sits close to my heart, and seems to have resonated with other fans of The Magnus Archives.
